Assistant Principal - Students and Staff
College Photos
Our College Photo Day is on Monday June 27th. All students from Year 7 to 12 will attend our SCU Site on the day as photos will be taken in Whitebrook Theatre. Students are expected to attend school in their Full Winter Uniform which includes the blazer. Ordering envelopes for the photos were given out to students last week.
Important reminder: Students need to bring their photo ordering envelopes to school on Photo Day - Monday June 27th.
Winter uniform
Today students made the transition into wearing the College winter uniform and the vast majority of them looked fantastic. Thanks to our parents and our carers for their support in this area. The uniform expectations are clearly stated in the Trinity Catholic College General Information Booklet on Lighthouse.
In 2022 the College Sports Jacket is NOT an option to be worn with the winter uniform.
As I stated in the previous Lantern Trinity College Staff are not oblivious to the impact the flood events have had on families. We are aware that students lost items of their uniform as they were stored in lockers or classrooms at SMS or SJS as well as in homes. We have already been able to assist some of our students who are unable at this time to have all uniform items accessible. An important reminder is that if your student is in need of an item I ask that you please contact me, their respective Leader of House or a trusted staff member and tell us what you need. We have a system in place that will be beneficial for any student impacted.
The 3 haircuts below are clear images of a style that is not accepted at Trinity. Students with these current styles will be given short term grace to grow them out or to have a haircut so the style is not as extreme.
The Trinity Catholic College position on Haircuts and styles is that the emphasis is always on neatness and good grooming:
- Hair is to be clean, neat and tidy - no extreme hair styles.
- Hair to be no shorter than a number 2 cut.
- Dyes and rinses should be restricted to natural hair colours - other colours not accepted.
- Long hair must be tied back in practical subjects or where a WHS issue has been identified by a staff member.
Trinity Race Day
Our Trinity Race Day is getting closer. Please mark on your calendar still Saturday July 16th. We have not gathered as a College community for so long and the race day is a fantastic opportunity for our community to reconnect, to chat, to laugh. The staff of Trinity College are looking forward to meeting you socially so we hope to see you at Lismore Race Course.
Race Day and Ticket information:
- Thanks to the generosity of the Lismore Turf Club entrance into the course for adults and children is free.
- If you would like to join the Trinity Staff and community in the upstairs members area for finger food, a free drink, Punters Club and Fashions on the Field go on to the Trinity College Website and purchase a ticket for just $30.
- The Lismore Turf Club is also organising some activities on the day for the kids.
Diocesan Junior Football Championships
The Year 7-9 Girls and Year 7-10 Boys contested the Diocesan Junior Football Championships last Thursday in Coffs Harbour. The Girls had a great day, playing four games and finishing with a 1-0 victory over Mt St Pat’s College, Murwillumbah. The Boys played four games, winning their Pool with 3 wins and a draw. They played St Paul’s College, Kempsey in the Semi Final, going down 2-1. Both teams competed with great spirit and represented the College with pride. Unfortunately the boys were camera shy and had changed before a photo could be taken but below is a photo of the girls.
Auctioneer/Real Estate Presentation
Last Friday I had the pleasure of introducing my brother Peter to over 20 students from Years 9, 10 and 11 who have an interest in auctioneering, real estate agency or stock and station agency as a career. Peter told our students how he began working in my dad’s stock business in Inverell the day after he finished his HSC in 1983. From Inverell he completed a Land Economy degree at the old Hawkesbury Ag College before spending over 30 years as the chief auctioneer for Richardson and Wrench in Sydney. Peter moved into the position of chief executive officer of the stock and station agents industry group, Australian Livestock and Property Agents Association in 2019. In his current position Peter organises the Young Auctioneers Competitions throughout Australia which culminates in the National Title that is held at the Sydney Royal Show.
The class was filled with as many boys as girls which was great to see particularly considering Peter showed footage of trailblazer Courtney Hanns who is forging a career as a young auctioneer.
Guest speakers are something schools missed so much during Covid so it was nice to see the pendulum starting to shift back.
